Libros de Niños
Reflection:
I am quite surprised on how much I wrote for my book. The amount that I wrote reflected the amount of work I’ve done over the year. For example, verb and the verb conjugates are displayed throughout my book, including emotions and how someone is portrayed. These things are shown through Lucy and Max, the main characters in my book. The only thing that I would have done differently in this project was to make better illustrations.
My experience of sharing my book was quite interesting because of a couple of native Spanish speakers. These children enjoyed the book and were able to help their classmates in decoding the Spanish. Throughout the reading process, I noticed that children started realizing certain patterns of words and was able to interpret what the word meant because of repetition. I felt that if they weren’t in the group, it would have been very different and I would have had to explain. The other children wouldn’t have learned as much as they did. The experience I am taking away is that when reading to children, I had to go to the very basics of language. For example, I had to explain colors, facial descriptions and characteristics (what people like to do in their free time). I felt that this experience was very impactful and helped me further learn the Spanish language.
